The Omaha Film Festival, a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization, sets out to deliver a fresh and innovative cinema experience through the exhibition of independent film and the growth of its Film Education Initiative program, and has become a staple of Omaha’s developing cultural identity. The Omaha Film Festival endeavors to provide leadership in Nebraska filmmaking through collaborative efforts with production studios, distributors, filmmakers, and film markets for a comprehensive cinematic and educational experience that is responsive to community needs and preferences, as well as the needs of the independent filmmaker.


The 4th annual Omaha Film Festival and Conference was held Feb 21 through Mar 1, 2009 at Creighton University and the Great Escape Stadium 16 Theatre. Selected films that screened at our 2009 event featured such Hollywood stars as Tom Hanks, John Malkovich, Ving Rhames, Ed Harris, Robert Townsend, Colin Hanks, Amy Adams, and Eliza Dushku. Our conference featured a cinematography panel with Mauro Fiore, CSA, the cinematographer for such great action films as Training Day, The Island, Smoking Aces, The Kingdom, and James Cameron’s upcoming 3-D epic Avatar. Other panelists at the conference included visual effects artist Neil Krepela, CSA (Bolt, Heat, Raiders of the Lost Ark), actor Daryl Sabara (April Showers, Spy Kids, A Christmas Carol), and the production team behind the film Lovely, Still, producer Dana Altman, director Nik Fackler, and cinematographer Sean Kirby.
